FAQ: Timemelters

What’s in the Alpha?

The Alpha consists of the first 2 acts of Timemelters, which is a total of 9 missions. Single player and co-op included. Although the visuals and sounds (spell fx, animations, spells and enemies sound FX, and we’re also looking at you “vegetation LOD popping”) will be improved in the upcoming months, the main storyline will stay the same in the final version. You will be playing the first 2 acts of the game in an Alpha state, so you might find some bugs and issues. However (and that’s the good thing with playing our Alpha), we WILL listen to your comments and do our best to change whatever is not working for you in the game. That’s why we want our backers to try out the game as soon as possible, to make sure we have time to start a real discussion with them and do major changes in our build based on their impressions and feedbacks.

When you say the Alpha will be available “soon” after the campaign ends, how “soon” will that be?

As soon as possible really. We’ll just need the campaign to finish, sort out everything and then send keys to anyone whose pledge includes the Alpha. That Alpha is actually done, so all we need really is just time to manage the end of the campaign and send you the access.

What is the Exclusive Backer Build?

The Backer Build is for the extra excited fan that wants to do even more to help our development outside of the alpha build. We will roll out levels slowly from act 3 to act 5 as they become available to receive feedback from everyone with the Backer Build. This will start at a later date from the Alpha rollout which is soon after the campaign. Also, the Exclusive Backer Build will allow the player to test and comment our Challenge Mode. Again, just like with the Alpha, our goal is to have a real discussion with our backers while there is still enough time to actually change stuff in the game if needed!

What are the Format Files of the soundtrack, and when will it become available?

The soundtrack, featuring at least 16 amazing songs, will be distributed through Steam with a key and it will be in either MP3, WAV or FLAC format (this still has to be determined). The songs are already recorded, but still need a bit of mastering. The soundtrack should be available at the beginning of 2022.

Again, why no merch?

We really want to focus on what we are good at, which is development. We’re only 3 people working on Timemelters (with the help of some friends), and we want to focus on making the game. Right now, all the missions of the game are in a playable state, but there’s still a lot of work to do and we feel that it would cost us too much time to manage (or even create) cool merch.

Is there splitscreen Co-op?

Timemelters will only have online co-op, no splitscreen. Right now, we use the Steam “Friend Invite” interface, so to play with someone, that person has to be in your Steam Friends list if you want to invite him to join your game.

What are the PC requirements?

Since Timemelters is still in alpha, it’s not perfectly optimized quite yet. For development, we are running 16gb ram, GTX 1070s and i7-7700K CPU @ 4.20GHz. This runs pretty smooth for us, but we are obviously going to try to bring down the requirements for the full launch. To note though, we are also running the highest settings in the game.

What about resolution settings and key binding?

Right now Timemelters only runs in 1080p and there are no key bindings. We did hot fix for Azerty keyboards in the option menu for the Alpha, but in a couple of weeks, we will have full key binding/resolution support.

What will the DLC be?

The Sullied King DLC for Timemelters will take place during a great war in the past, where the players learn about the creation of the mysterious time artefact: the Amathrach! We don’t want to spoil the story or anything, but let’s just say that we have a LOT of ideas for that DLC!

Why no PS4 or Xbox One?

It costs a lot of money and support to port a game over to even a single new platform, so we decided that we wanted to at least target the latest hardware with this stretch goal. The future however is incredible unpredictable, so who knows how this might change in a year or two depending on demand and success (i.e. if we decide to port Timemelters to older consoles as well).

How does creating a Steam achievement work?

One of us from the team will work with you to have your idea come to life. It can’t be something trolly where you just stand still or do nothing, we want it to be fun in the end! An example can be, finish a certain level only using spells and without using your basic attack even once! Or finish a super hard map without any allies losing HP. After the conception of the achievement, the task is up to you to complete. You’ll record your playthrough, and when we see that the achievement can actually be done, it’s in the game with your name as credit! Or maybe a pun with your name, we’ll talk! We’ll work on the achievements at the very end, a month or two before the final release of the game.

How does creating a Challenge map work?

Very similar to the previous question, one of us will work with you to bring your ideas to life. You’ll have a build with many of the levels and one of these levels will house your challenge map. We will conceptualize with you so write down all of your ideas, such as: Enemy and ally placement within the map, with their sizes and spawns, including mana drops. Maybe you have an idea with 9 echos instead of 4. Really brainstorm those crazy ideas and we’ll do our best to figure out what is doable and above all else, fun! We’ll work on these challenges at the very end, a month or two before the final release of the game.

Why are all pledges marked as April 2022 delivery?

We are aiming to release the Final game on Steam on late April 2022. Since all pledges include the final version of the game, that’s why we marked that date for the delivery. Of course, the access to the Alpha and the Exclusive Backer Build will be given way before that!

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
